Interview with an Author featuring Heather McCorkle

The Literary Vixen presents…

Joining us today is Heather McCorkle! Her newest release, Bared & Betrayed (Children of Fenrir Book 3) released on October 12th 2021.

What inspired you to start writing?

I’ve always loved diving into new worlds, and as a child I would make up my own stories to tell to my stuffed animals. It grew from there.

What would you say is your most interesting writing quirk?

I like to write in pencil in a notebook while I’m out and about, then enter the pages into my computer when I get back home.

How do you deal with emotional impact of a book (on yourself) as you are writing the story?

If I’m writing an emotionally charged scene, I end up watching or reading something light-hearted to balance it.

How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?

Eleven that are published, but eighteen over all.

What books or authors have most influenced your own writing?

There are so many! To name a few: Anne McCaffery, Margaret Weis, Tracy Hickman, Stephen King, Dean Koontz, whew, I could really go on, but I’ll stop. 😉

Describe yourself in three words.

Determined, dedicated, supportive.

What book is currently on your bedside table?

A Conjuring of Ravens by Azalea Ellis and Love at 20,000 Leagues by Lizzy Gayle

Do you have any new series planned?

I do! It is a spin-off series set in the world of my Children of Fenrir series about the werewolf seeker. A novella coming out this spring will launch it, and the first full length novel comes out this fall.

What advice would you give to other authors?

Always strive to learn and improve. Times and writing styles change and being in the know is to your advantage.

What is the one thing you want people to know about you and your books?

That I love to entertain, to draw readers into a rich world they can get lost in, with characters they will root for and fall in love with. I’m all for girl power, healthy relationships, and adventure, but my books are spicy. Oh wait, that’s a lot of things. 😉

Thank you Heather McCorkle for chatting with me! I will include her information down below. Check out her newest release, Bared & Betrayed today!

~Synopsis~

In this Montana town of Viking descended werewolves, there are secrets upon secrets.

In the name of protecting his family and his kind, Raul Anderson has made some terrible decisions, and even worse mistakes. Mistakes that got him bumped from First Verndari, to the bottom of the pack. Being blackmailed is no excuse, especially when he can’t prove it. Now he has to work his way back up to the top of the pack so he can challenge the werewolf he suspects is plotting to throw them into a war with humans.

But that isn’t his only problem. As punishment for his mistakes, he is sentenced to be a kennari—a teacher to newly bitten werewolves. His first charge is not only hotter than Helheimr, she’s also the new detective the police chief has partnered with him to solve who is behind the unsanctioned bitings.

Elexis Sandalius will do whatever it takes to catch the werewolf that attacked and changed her—even accept a job as a detective in a town full of werewolves, and partner with a guy who bit another woman in without her permission. She couldn’t dislike the sexy, cocky ex-quarterback anymore if he had been the one to bite her. Until it becomes clear he is not what he appears to be, and is certainly not what everyone thinks he is.

If they can’t overcome their dislike of one another—and deal with their growing attraction—a mass murderer will not only walk but will launch their kind into war.

If you like Patricia Briggs, Christine Feehan, Kait Ballenger, or Norse mythology, you’ll love this Viking inspired full-length paranormal romance!

Heather is an award winning author of paranormal, steampunk, and historical who is represented by Nicole Resciniti of the Seymour Agency.
Becoming a published author has been a life-long goal that she has known she wanted since she was twelve. At that age, she wrote her first book and has been writing ever since. The path to where she is now as an author has been wrought with detours and road blocks, but she stayed the course and finally partnered with two agents and ultimately signed with one of them.
When she is not writing, editing, or designing book covers and websites, she can be found on the slopes, the hiking trails, or paddle boarding. As a native Oregonian, she enjoy the outdoors nearly as much as the worlds she creates on the pages. No need to travel to the Great Northwest though, you can find her on her website and her many social networking sites. You can also find her the first Monday night of every month at 6:00 pm PT on the #WritersRoad chat on Twitter. She is the co-creator and moderator of the chat. Entertaining readers, protecting endangered species, and uncovering stories and points of view that haven’t been covered are her passions.
