My Song’s Curse (Duet of the Gods Book 1) by Poppy Minnix – My Review

Title: My Song’s Curse (Duet of the Gods Book 1)

Author: Poppy Minnix

Release Date: August 31st 2020

Genre: Mythology, Paranormal Romance

Ultimate control has its downside, especially when it comes to romance. But will it be enough to keep them together?

As a siren Lula Aglaope can bend anyone to her will with the smallest whisper, but she’d give up her power for one meaningful, honest conversation.

She wants a normal life, like the open, true connections the humans seem to pull off with such little effort.

When she meets Alexiares, God of Warding off Wars, all thoughts of normalcy fly out the window. The beautiful demigod cannot be controlled! He’s frustrating, irresistible…and utterly off-limits.

Alex has watched Olympus slowly fall apart. The old gods continue their archaic control of the Universe, denying the progress of humans and other deities. But Alex has plans to repair the damage, and Lula is a major player.

She just doesn’t know it yet.

Falling for her is the worst idea. And just when things move in the right direction, danger arises that no one expects, plunging the sirens into the deadly Olympian spotlight.

With Lula’s sisters missing, and a pile of broken laws surrounding them, will Alex and Lula change the Universe for the better or destroy it?

If you like Kevin Hearne, Molly Harper, and Shannon Mayer, you’ll love this fun paranormal romance steeped in mythology!

Fabulous read! Demigods, Sirens, and danger oh my!

The attraction between Lula and Alex was HOT! They truly have a connection and it was fun to see that blossom as the story progressed. The story is engaging and I love the mythology woven throughout. From beginning to end, this book will have you on the edge of your seat. Those sex scenes will have you wanting more! Alex and his friends are dreamy and totally book boyfriend worthy! There is also a great balance between action and steamy in this book. I also have to take a moment to appreciate that cover! It’s gorgeous and very eye catching!

A fantastic debut for Miss Minnix! The story is well written with some wonderful characters that you’ll quickly become attached to. I love her storytelling style and anxiously await more from her! If you’re a fan of fantasy and mythology, this book is for YOU! I give this 5 stars.

Broken. Healing. Hope.

What an emotional rollercoaster this book was! The presentation of what Lucy goes through is heartbreaking and well done. Miss Powell has such a way with words. Through her storytelling, she is able to elicit a range of emotions from readers. Anger and sadness are some but most of all, hope. I was all in my feelings with this book! I felt such compassion for Lucy because I have experienced something similar. I know I am not alone in this. The author is brave for taking on such a subject. Lucy’s journey is not an easy one and I was rooting for her all the way! You are strong!

From author Kia Abdullah, Take It Back is a harrowing and twisting courtroom thriller that keeps you guessing until the last page is turned.

After all, these four teenage defendants are from hard-working immigrant families and they all have proven alibis. Even Jodie’s best friend doesn’t believe her.

But Zara does—and she is determined to fight for Jodie—to find the truth in the face of public outcry. And as issues of sex, race and social justice collide, the most explosive criminal trial of the year builds to a shocking conclusion.

A sensational read!

I was not ready for this book. The story is thought provoking and the message is powerful. The topics such as race, religion and rape aren’t easy topics to write but the author did a wonderful job in blending them all into the story. Many emotions were felt as I was reading. A lot of it was anger. I also felt hope. There are different points of views and opinions, sure to get you thinking. The pacing is good. You’re kind of jumping around through different characters. There are many twists and turns. I didn’t see that ending coming, which kind of left me speechless. Bravo Miss Abdullah!

This is a must read for anyone who is a fan of thrillers. This story is a breath of fresh air and will have you guessing till the very end. This is my first Kia Abdullah book and I look forward to what she comes out with next. Don’t wait! Read this book today! You won’t be sorry. I give this 5 stars.

A gripping new page-turning thriller from the USA Today bestseller!

A young girl found dead in a neighbor’s field.

A fourteen-year-old who confesses.

Just a child herself, could Chrissy Cornwall really be a cold-blooded killer?

Years later, the murderer is getting out and Natalie Bryers, unable to forget the night of Jenny’s murder, still has questions.

Did Chrissy lie then or is she lying now?  Did she really kill Jenny?  And if so, will she kill again?

I did not expect this book to pull me in the way it did. I didn’t put it down. It consumed me. There was a sense of urgency to get to the end. The pacing of the story is great. I was engaged the whole way through. It’s very well written. The characters were interesting and a bit sinister. I really liked Chrissy. I probably wasn’t supposed to but I hardly follow the rules. There is way more to her than people know. That ending….mind blown! I did not see that coming.

This is a highly enjoyable read and also the kind that will consume you. It’ll grab a hold of you and won’t let go even after you’ve finished. I enjoy this authors writing style and look forward to her next book! I give this 5 stars.

Alice Carroll hardly remembers life before the plague. When the undead first crawled from their graves, it was like a nightmare. When they killed her mother, the nightmare became shockingly real. Chasing a rumor about a mysterious doctor with a cure, Alice falls down the rabbit hole into Wanderland, where ravenous Momerath aren’t the only danger lurking.

Alice is a fabulous twist on a classic we all love. One of my favorite things about this book is that its set in Arizona! Ah its the little things. The story is both entertaining and unique with some really great characters. I didn’t like all of them. You’ll know why once you read the book. Going in I wasn’t sure what to expect, seeing as the author put a dystopian twist on a classic. It totally worked and blew my mind! Theres also a ton of scenes that will get your pulse racing! Danger, suspense and action oh my! The twists that were revealed gave me the chills. I did not see any of that coming!

This is a wonderful read from beginning to end. Did I binge read this book? Yes I did. Its that good! I can’t wait to read the next one. I give this 5 stars!

Broken Glass (The Wanderland Chronicles Book 2) by J.M. Sullivan – My Review

Title: Broken Glass (The Wanderland Chronicles Book 2)

Author: J.M. Sullivan

Release Date: March 20th 2019

Genre: Young Adult, Sci-Fi

The scariest thing about Wanderland isn’t death–it’s the Momerath.

***

Back to Wanderland.

But with relentless Momerath and a ruthless Queen encroaching, will Alice’s determination be enough? Or will she fall down a new rabbit hole searching for revenge?

Broken Glass picks up right where book one ended. The worst has happened and Alice feels responsible. She wants to fix it but there is much more at stake.

I love Chess! We needed him! I had to mention that before I moved forward with my review. Alice has been through so much. I like how she wants to do the right thing and still has hope in a world that is filled with betrayal and danger. Some new characters are introduced and there’s one I don’t care for. Maybe that will change with the next book. Maybe. So much adventure. More truths revealed. The suspense and action scenes had me gripping my kindle hard. My heart was definitely racing! That ending….had me saying wow. I definitely need the next book NOW!!

Delightful read all the way through! Another fab binge read! This series will have you hooked. I love the authors storytelling and will be diving into the next book soon! I give this 5 stars.

It’s so hard to say goodbye….

The conclusion of this wonderful series has me all in my feels. These characters and I have been through so much! Sigh. I have mixed feelings about this book. After All I’ve Done by Mina Hardy – My Review

Title: After All I’ve Done: A Novel

Author: Mina Hardy

Release Date: November 10th 2020

Genre: Psychological Thrillers

Writing as Mina Hardy, New York Times bestselling author Megan Hart delivers a thrilling new psychological suspense for fans of The Woman in the Window and When the Lights Go Out.

She’s lost her best friend, her husband–and possibly, her mind.

Five months ago, an accident left Diana Sparrow badly injured and missing a few months of her memory. As if that’s not enough, she’s started having recurring nightmares about the night of the accident. Dreams that feel so real, she’s left questioning: maybe she didn’t just slide off the road into a ditch. Maybe, just maybe, she hit something. Or someone.

She can’t turn to her former best friend Val, who’s been sleeping with Diana’s husband Jonathan for months, but she might find some comfort in newcomer Cole Pelham. Yet the closer they become, the more Diana begins to wonder what really happened that night–and how Cole might be connected. Worse, it seems everyone else could be involved, too.

Who was with her that night? What really happened? As her life unravels thread by thread and the dreams become too real to ignore, Diana will have to face the unthinkable–and do the unforgivable.

After All I’ve Done is a fast paced thriller that will have your heart racing and rapidly turning those pages!

Right from the start, the story had me in its clutches. It didn’t let go till the very end. This book is one crazy ride and I was there for it! There are many questions about what had happened to Diana. As the story went on, I found myself not liking any of the characters. They were all bad people and some were more irritating than others. This might be weird to say but it didn’t take away from the story. In fact, it enhanced the story and the mystery in solving what happened that night. Towards the end, there was an urgency to find out how all the pieces fit and boy was I surprised! That was one twist I did not see coming. Very nice Miss Hardy.

This is a fantastic and thrilling read! It’s entertaining and an ending you won’t see coming. I can promise you that. The cover is very eye catching and pretty. I know this author is using a different pen name and I hope she continues to write more of these types of books. I look forward to reading more by Miss Hardy. I give this 5 stars.
