How long have you been writing?
I’ve been writing most of my teenage to adult life. Now, have I been writing erotica that long, NO! LOL I started with mainly poems and short stories about my life, which definitely had it’s challenges.
Describe a typical writing day.
I mainly start with listening to my “Writing Mode” playlists. I listen to the first few tracks which are Secret by Maroon 5, Silhouette & Pastel by Kenny G, Getting Late & Say Yes by Floetry then ends with Closer by Nine Inch Nails. Obviously by the time I get to that song my characters are exhausted from having sex LMAO!
Where do you get your inspiration for your books?
Hmm… I really never know how to answer this question. What inspires me to write about alpha males who love to fuck… no clue. It just happens.
Do you have a favorite character that you have written? If so, who? And what makes them so special.
Jackson Turner, my first alpha, will always be my favorite. He brought the Arousing Series to life, and me quite honestly. It was the first time I realized I might actually be a decent writer!
How do you deal with emotional impact of a book (on yourself) as you are writing the story?
Okay, there were some emotional moments in the Arousing Series that brought tears to my eyes as I wrote them, as well as in the latest book release, Midnight Princess. The only way to move on from them is to watch a comedy or my favorite movie. Like I love Bridget Jones’ Diary. Renee Zellweger is funny as hell in that movie.

When writing a series how do you keep things fresh, for both your readers and also yourself?
I have only written one series, but I try not to build my characters too closely. Like I don’t want my alpha from Midnight Princess to be like Jackson from the Arousing Series. But there will always be an alpha!
Are you working on anything at the present you would like to share with me?
Right now, I’m working on another anthology set to release in August. The name of the anthology is Internet Famous and the title of the book is Seconds. I am also putting together a short story book as well as a spinoff from the Arousing Series.
What advice would you give to other authors?
The biggest thing is to please do some research before you release your first book… or any book! Know your demographic, what covers work, what keywords work, how much your spending so you’ll know how much you need to earn, GET EVERYTHING PROFESSIONALLY EDITED! Last, don’t be afraid to ask for help.
What is the one thing you want people to know about you and your books?
I guess that I put a lot of hard work and time into what I write and publish. Just like any other indie author, we all just love a little support and encouragement along the way.

Cam Johns began her career as a published author in 2016 with the release of her first book – Arousing Consequences – to the trilogy, The Arousing Series. However, actually publishing wasn’t part of her plan. After her husband was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, she found that writing became a great way to relieve the tension and mounted pressures that come with watching someone she loves suffer from such a harsh diagnosis. It was her husband that pushed her to share her voice, regardless of how erotic that voice would become.
