Depression is real. It’s ugly and no one ever wants to talk about it. This blog post is going to be different from my usual reviews or spotlights.
I’ve suffered from depression for years. Neither my family or I recognized the symptoms at first. When I was in high school, I was able to see someone. Her name was Teri and she made me feel at ease. I could talk to her about things and I felt safe in that space.
Fast forward to today. I’ve dealt with a lot in my life. Most recently, the loss of my father. There’s also past trauma I’m working through that includes abuse, anxiety, and depression. I don’t talk about it. I usually keep to myself. I’ve been condition good think no one cares.
You may have noticed that I haven’t had much content lately. To be honest, the past three to two weeks, I was in a huge depression state. It hit me hard. I tried to function but I really couldn’t.
I am fortunate to have a small circle of support.
A few ways to help a friend who is suffering from depression is, let them know you’re there. Send memes. Maybe order them dinner.
Some things NOT to do. Tell them to quit being sad or say there are others worse off.
It took a lot for me to share this. I hope this helps anyone who is going through depression. You’re not alone. You matter.
If you’re waiting on a review or response, please know that it’s coming. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
