Dark Roulette (Games we Play Book 3) by Lindsey Powell – My Review

Title: Dark Roulette (Games we Play Book 3)

Author: Lindsey Powell

Release Date: August 10th 2021

Genre: Erotic Suspense

The games I play, they’re cruel.

The punishments I dole out, they cause maximum impact.

The words I speak, they’re soul-destroying.

But my place on this earth is not to make everyone think that rainbows and fairies exist.

The world turns and most people just want to turn a blind eye to the bad that surrounds them daily. But those of us that keep our eyes open, we know where the bad lurks and where the enemies live.

I grew up living in the underworld.

I am a natural born leader.

And now it’s my time to rule.

Becoming someone else’s prey isn’t an option.

And neither is love.

I pushed away the only woman I have ever felt anything for because love makes you weak.

Love makes you blind.

And I’ve barricaded my dark heart behind walls made of steel.

The only problem is, the woman in question is a part of my world too, and she’s about to make me question every thing I have tried to do to keep her away from me.

Will she be the one to own my dark soul?

Or will I end up destroying everything she thinks she knows about love?

I’m Marshall Turner, and this is my story.

*Please note that Marshall’s story is a dark romance containing violence which may be a trigger for some*
**Each title in the Games we Play series can be read as a stand-alone novel and is intended for readers 18 years and over.
There are cameos from each of the characters throughout the series. You don’t have to read every book to enjoy, but it may enhance your reading experience if you do.***

You like bad boys? Marshall is the baddest of them all.

The story of Marshall and Sophia is one that will have you feeling a range of emotions. A wild rollercoaster ride! Not to mention the heat and seduction happening between the pages. Enough to heat up your night. Marshall has that effect. Dominating and possessive. Yes please!
From beginning to end, this story will have you engaged and on the edge of your seat. Waiting to see what danger is coming next. I finished this in one sitting. I couldn’t nor did I want to put it down. I had to know how it all would end!!

As a whole, this book is highly entertaining. The pacing is great as well as the characters. I was completely captivated. The author has a unique style of writing and I am a huge fan of it. I can’t wait to see what she comes out with next! I highly recommend this book!! I give this 5 stars.

The story starts off with a bang! Seriously. Nice touch there Miss Powell! I definitely wanted more! The electricity between Natalie and Jess was off the charts. Forbidden love made it even hotter! You don’t see it until it’s too late. Many emotions such as anger and sadness were felt while reading. That’s a good thing! Miss Powell did an amazing job in channeling all the emotions and feelings that go into Lucy’s journey. It isn’t an easy topic and one that happens more than we care to admit. Right from the start, the story grabbed me and didn’t let go until the end. It still has a hold on me! From the story to the characters, this was amazing all the way through. It has action, revenge, and did I mention a strong take no prisoners woman? OH YEAH! Like what more could you need? This really was a fantastic read for me. Interview with an Author Featuring Lindsey Powell

The Literary Vixen presents…

Joining us today is Lindsey Powell, author of The Perfect Series!

How long have you been writing?

I started writing after reading Fifty Shades of Grey. The series inspired me to create my own hot book boyfriends.

Describe a typical writing day.

I usually have to fit in writing around my day job and my family, but if I had the whole day to myself then it would start with a cup of coffee and a quick re-read of the last chapter I wrote. From there I would get totally lost in my manuscript by putting on a playlist and letting the words flow, as well as making several more cups of coffee.

Where do you get your inspiration for your books?

I don’t really have a specific thing that inspires my books. I can be anywhere and an idea will come to me, and from that idea I build on it, sometimes slowly, sometimes quickly. It all depends on my mood and how busy I am.

Do you have a favorite character that you have written? If so, who? And what makes them so special.

Jake Waters. He will always be special because he was the first book boyfriend I ever wrote. He’s got it all. Looks, charm, kindness, loyalty… he ticks all of the boxes.

I went through so many emotions whilst writing The Perfect Series, and I am so proud that I put it out there for others to (hopefully) enjoy.

How do you deal with emotional impact of a book (on yourself) as you are writing the story?

I currently have one book series that I have had to put to one side because of the emotion in there. It’s one that deals with such a sensitive topic that I have to be in the right frame of mind to continue with it.

The last series I released really took a toll on my emotions. The Part of Me series made me dig deep to make sure that I had the story absolutely right for the characters. Once I finished writing that series I gave myself a break from writing to recharge my mind.

Are you on social media and can your readers interact with you?

I am on social media. You can find me on Instagram, Twitter, Book bub, Goodreads and Facebook where I have an author page and an author group called Lindsey’s Literary Lovelies.

When writing a series how do you keep things fresh, for both your readers and also yourself?

I try to keep the characters different from my previous ones as they all have their own stories to tell. I also have a couple of fabulous beta readers that give me their opinion on whether things need changing up.

Are you working on anything at the present you would like to share with me?

I am working on something a little different. It’s still romance, but it’s dark romance.

I’m really enjoying how different it is to write something that is darker but that still incorporates the suspense element that I love so much.

I am nearly finished with it, so I am hoping to make an announcement soon.

What is advice would you give to other authors?

Believe in yourself.

If you have a story inside of you, get it down on paper, work on it, embrace it.

And don’t let anyone make you think that you can’t.

What is the one thing you want people to know about you and your books?

Just one thing? LOL.

If I had to choose just one then it would be that, I love to write those HEA’s, but in doing so I like to write about real life struggles and scenarios. My books may not be everyone’s cup of tea because of some of the subject matter, and readers may not agree with the characters choices, but their choices reflect real life struggles.

An example of this is Callie from my book Take Me. Some readers didn’t like her choices. Some actually messaged me to say that they were angry with her, but Callie’s choices are ones where the fairy tale doesn’t come easily, and it takes some deep soul searching to finally let go of the things that hold her back.

I just want to say a massive thank you to The Literary Vixen for interviewing me. I love how supportive this lady is, and I am so glad that I connected with her. You are fabulous! Much love.

Thank you for chatting with me! I will include her information down below. Get started on her series today!
