Interview with an Author Featuring D.M. Earl

The Literary Vixen presents…

Joining us today is D.M. Earl! Her newest release, Bottom of the Chains-Prospect (Grimm Wolves MC Book 1.5) released on August 18th 2020.

Tell us a bit about yourself.

I’m D.M. Earl an Indie author out of Northwest Indiana. I’m married to my best friend. We are bikers (both have Harley’s) and have 8 fur babies. I’m an avid reader and love to spend a day engrossed in a good story.

When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?

As a child I devoured books and always considered myself a storyteller. Writing has been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember.

Describe your writing space.

I have a couple. My primary space is in our finished basement that my husband put together for me. I have a desk, office chair and am surrounded by bookshelves with all of my signed paperbacks from some of my favorite authors around me. It is quiet and serene. Next is our screen porch, which I love cause it looks out into our yard. Again gives me peace of mind.

How many books have you written? Which is your fave?

I’ve published 9 books. Number 10 is scheduled to release on 9.9.2020. I also have three more that’ll be releasing before the end of 2020.

As far as a favorite, they all are my favorites it depends on the day and my emotions. I write with my heart and soul so can’t pick just one.

Where do you get your inspiration for your books?

My real life experience and interacts with people and the voices in my head that guide me towards a story.

What are you reading now?

I’m reading Kris Michaels Shadow series. Waiting for 9.22.20 for the next release of Kristen Ashley’s Chaos series.

If your book was to be made into a movie, who are the celebrities that would star in it?

Not sure. I know I would use not really famous actors to get the full emotion out of each book.

Do you find it more challenging to write the first book in a series or to write the subsequent novels?

Each book to me is challenging. The first book because you are trying to introduce a new series. The next books can be challenging because you are trying to continue on with a story.

Describe yourself in 3 words.

Kind, Open book, heart on my sleeve.

What advice would you give to other authors?

Never let anyone tell you what to do with your books. Follow your heart and your storyline and stay true to yourself.

What is the one thing you want people to know about you and your books?

I’ll share my Amazon Author description cause this fits me very well.

I spin stories about real life situations with characters that are authentic, genuine and sincere. Each story allows the characters to come to life with each turn of the page while they try to find their HEA through much drama and angst.

Thank you D.M. Earl for chatting with me! I will include her information down below. Check out her newest release, Bottom of the Chains today!

~Synopsis~

My life has sucked for as far back as I can remember. My folks didn’t want me so I was thrown into foster care. Let me just say lots of fun. NOT.

Then one day, my life took a dramatic change. My circumstances improved greatly. I met The Grimm Wolves MC and they took me under their wing. I became not only a prospect but also part of their brotherhood.

Now I’ve let my brothers down not once, but twice, in less than a month. What if I don’t belong with the club? Feeling the weight of life, how can I prove to the only family I have ever had that I’m worth the trouble? Or maybe the truth is I’m not reliable and useful after all? It all depends on how much of my failure The Grimm Wolves MC are willing to put up with by one of their newest prospects.

USA Today Bestselling author D. M. Earl spins stories about real life situations with characters that are authentic, genuine and sincere. Each story allows the characters to come to life with each turn of the page while they try to find their HEA through much drama and angst.

After (The After Series Book 1) by Anna Todd – My Review

Title: After (The After Series Book 1)

Author: Anna Todd

Release Date: October 21st 2014

Genre: New Adult, Romance

~Synopsis~

There was the time before Tessa met Hardin, and then there’s everything AFTER Life will never be the same. #Hessa

Tessa is a good girl with a sweet, reliable boyfriend back home. She’s got direction, ambition, and a mother who’s intent on keeping her that way.

But she’s barely moved into her freshman dorm when she runs into Hardin. With his tousled brown hair, cocky British accent, and tattoos, Hardin is cute and different from what she’s used to.

But he’s also rude—to the point of cruelty, even. For all his attitude, Tessa should hate Hardin. And she does—until she finds herself alone with him in his room. Something about his dark mood grabs her, and when they kiss it ignites within her a passion she’s never known before.

He’ll call her beautiful, then insist he isn’t the one for her and disappear again and again. Despite the reckless way he treats her, Tessa is compelled to dig deeper and find the real Hardin beneath all his lies. He pushes her away again and again, yet every time she pushes back, he only pulls her in deeper.

Tessa already has the perfect boyfriend. So why is she trying so hard to overcome her own hurt pride and Hardin’s prejudice about nice girls like her?

Unless…could this be love?

~My Review~

I’m going to be honest. I hadn’t heard of this series until the movie came out on Netflix. Then I found out it was a book. Everyone kept saying how good it was, so I got the book and decided to read it before watching.

This book is like, it’s so bad it ends up being kind of good. Like a train wreck. I kept shaking my head and saying “What the hell Tessa?!” or “FFS!” but I kept going because I needed to know where this train wreck would end up. At times, it was exhausting the back and forth between the two.

Now, I’m not going to get into detail what I think about Hardin’s behavior. It’s classic girl meets boy. Boy is a major jerk but she doesn’t give up on him because she thinks he will change for her. He doesn’t. Yeah no. This is a big part of why the story didn’t work for me.

Despite my issues with the story, I am curious to see what happens in the next book. Yeah that whole train wreck syndrome. I can see the appeal this books has to others but sadly it wasn’t for me. I give this 3 stars.

Wishes On Falling Stars by S.M. Stryker – My Review

Release Date: September 3rd 2018

Genre: New Adult Romance

~Synopsis~

I once was told that my wishes would come true if I wished upon a falling star. Well, they were wrong.

Or were they?

I think my heart belonged to Kaiden from the very first moment we met.

We spent a secret weekend together talking about our future, wished upon falling stars, and confessing our love for one another.

Kaiden was my best friend; my future, but after I gave myself to him that special night, he disappeared from my life. That was the last time I saw from him.

Willow was my first, but after that weekend, my life changed forever. I walked away from everything and everyone I ever loved.

Willow thought that if she got married, she could forget the boy she was in love with. But when she found out she was pregnant years later, her husband demanded her to terminate the pregnancy.

Horrified at her husband’s ultimatum, Willow returns to the one place she had always found solace.

After a tragic accident, Kaiden withdrew from everyone he loved, including Willow. By the time he finally realized what he had done, Willow was already gone. Giving herself to another man. She wasn’t his any longer.

Now, ten years later, their paths cross in the one place that had held so much promise. Each carrying secrets, too ashamed and unwilling to share until they realize they only have each other to lean on.

~My Review~

Willow can’t seem to forget about her first love. He was amazing but things didn’t work out. She got married and began her married life. Only it wasn’t what she thought it would be. Willow is faced with some tough decisions. Doing some soul searching she runs into her first love, Kaiden.

This was a pretty good read. I really enjoyed it. I like the mix of sweet and not so sweet moments that made up the book. I have the audiobook version and the narrator did a good job. Willow is pretty cool! Love her! I give this 4 stars

*I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion*
