Wicked Match (The Wicked Book 2) by Luna Joya – My Review

Title: Wicked Match (The Wicked Book 2)

Author: Luna Joya

Release Date: November 8th 2022

Genre: Paranormal Romance, Urban Fantasy, Fantasy Romance

Can a good girl witch princess and a bad boy bodyguard fight their way from enemies to lovers and stop a killer?

Good girl Prys Bane is the ultimate witch princess—titled, rich, beautiful, and from the best royal bloodlines. But the STEM genius would rather hide with her statistics and crush on a forbidden bodyguard than marry a proper prince. Better to guarantee that no one discovers her true magic—powers more suited to a storybook villain than any princess.

Bad boy John Donovan has pretended to be a bodyguard while hiding his supernatural double agent status from everyone—even his own sisters who see him as the villain. Crushing on Prys seemed safe until he learns she’s not only the witch magistrate investigating a murder where his sister is the chief suspect, but Prys is also the matchmaker hired to force him into an arranged marriage.

When John and Prys are pulled into a deadly mystery that comes closer and closer to the couple by the hour, they must work together. When Prys discovers John’s kink, these enemies quickly become lovers whose passions ignite. Can this princess and her antihero find happily ever after or will the killer be a best friend whose betrayal neither can survive?

Who doesn’t love a good girl/bad boy story?

Especially one written by the fabulous Luna Joya. She brings all the steam and that slow burn will leave you wanting more. Long after you’ve finished. In Wicked Match, we learn more about John. Secrets will be revealed. Everything is not as it seems. I devoured this book! That twist! That ending! It had my heart racing and me shouting at my kindle. I’m not dramatic at all.

This was another highly enjoyable read. It has action, suspense, steam, and a twist you didn’t see coming. If you’re a fan of paranormal romance with steam, this book is for you! Skip adding it to your TBR and just dive right in. I give this 5 stars.

How to Date a Fury (Syn City Shifters Book 1) by Luna Joya – My Review

Title: How to Date a Fury (Syn City Shifters Book 1)

Author: Luna Joya

Release Date: September 22nd 2022

Genre: Paranormal Romance, Fantasy

Who knew dying would be the easy part of my day?

It all started the night Chase, my mountain lion shifter ex, reappeared. We’d had a whole good girl/bad boy romance going until he abandoned me a decade ago. I’d gone to Syn City for a little fun before being trapped in my hometown forever.

Then I was murdered by a maniac and my night really fell apart.

But somehow, Chase managed to strike a deal on a blood oath and bring me back as a Fury. He wants a second chance at romance, claiming we’re fated mates.

Now, I have to deal with the guy I thought I’d never see again, find and punish my murderer, and participate in a giant supernatural roller derby (long story)—all while trying to earn my wings.

And if I fail? I’ll end up dead. Again…only this time, it’ll be permanent.

All I can say is that it’s a good thing hell hath no fury like, well, an actual Fury.

How to Date a Fury, the first book in the Syn City Shifters Series, is a dark, sexy, paranormal romance featuring a reluctant Fury and the shifter who broke her heart but wants a shot at mending it. Happily ever after (and plenty of snarky fun) guaranteed. Perfect for fans of Linsey Hall, Jaymin Eve, and Amelia Hutchins.

Luna Joya is coming in hot with a brand new series!

How to Date a Fury exceeded all my expectations! A fantastic engaging story with some pretty unique characters. What’s a Luna Joya story without some heat? She definitely brought that and more!

A wonderful start to a series. I look forward to reading more! If you like fantasy romance with some heat, look no further. Go ahead and binge read this book! You deserve it. I give this 5 stars.

Wicked Crown (The Wicked Book 1) by Luna Joya – My Review

Title: Wicked Crown (The Wicked Book 1)

Author: Luna Joya

Release Date: July 5th 2022

Genre: Paranormal Romance, Urban Fantasy

She’s not who-or what-she appears to be. Neither is he.

Supermodel Vori would be happy to stay in the human world, blissfully ignoring her true nature. But no. The blood vow she once made requires her to return to the Goblin Court. And since going alone would mean consenting to an arranged marriage, she needs a fake husband. Someone no one would miss if there was an unfortunate…accident. Vori knows the perfect villain for the job.

Witch Perry used to be a hotshot lawyer. But that was before he made all the wrong choices, wound up in league with a demon, and was left to rot in prison. Now, he has a second chance. He can finally earn his redemption. Too bad his last hope is the woman he ghosted two years ago.

It’s not long before Vori and Perry realize they aren’t as different as they thought-and that the line between enemies and lovers can be razor thin. But if they want their happily ever after, they’ll first have to stop a supernatural killer and survive a royal smackdown. Should be easy for a goblin princess and her dashing antihero, right?

If only.

Wicked Crown is a fierce alluring read that will leave you wanting more!

Ever since I was introduced to Vori, I wanted to know more about her. She intrigued me from that first intro and I was thrilled she got her very own book! Can we take a moment to admire that fire cover?

Right away, I was pulled into the book. This story was everything I wanted. Action, intrigue, steam, and most of all, Vori’s story. I was already invested because I’m a huge fan and follower of The Legacy Series. Vori is much more that what she portrays herself to be.

I can’t recommend this book enough! If you love paranormal romance with steam and action, this book is for you. Skip adding this to your TBR and one click it today! I give this 5 stars.

Flash Point (The Legacy Book 5) by Luna Joya – My Review

Title: Flash Point (The Legacy Book 5)

Author: Luna Joya

Release Date: July 20th 2021

Genre: Paranormal Romance

Banish the demon, stop the prophecy, and do not fall in love. Easy, right? Yeah, not so much.

Mina Donovan is a woman of many talents. Fire elemental, psychic, Legacy witch, magical asset for an FBI paranormal task force…she does it all. Her latest struggle? Not crushing on her sexy best friend. Logically, she knows they can’t be together. Too bad her heart has never bothered with logic.

The friend zone is the last place pyro expert Josh wants to be with Mina. Not that he has any choice in the matter. A witch hunter falling for a witch? Not smart. He’ll just have to learn to ignore his attraction to the gorgeous woman who already owns so much of his heart.

If Mina and Josh have any hope of finding their way to happily ever after, they’ll have to banish an all-powerful demon and take down an evil magical organization. Oh, and they’ll also have to figure out how to stop the prophecy that warns a dragon will consume Mina.

It’ll take more than magic to fix this supernatural dilemma.

If you like Michelle M. Pillow, Abigail Owen, K.F. Breene, or K.M. Shea, check out this series that readers have described as a steamy Charmed meets Lucifier with witch sisters solving murder mysteries and finding true love.

Just when I think I have a favorite book in The Legacy series, Miss Joya writes Flash Point.

This story has everything you need! Magic, strong women, the men who love them, danger and tons of action. Not to mention those scenes that ignite the flames of passion between the characters. Maybe yourself as well. I had been waiting for Mina’s story. I was not disappointed! She’s relatable and smart. I want to be her best friend! Enter Josh. He has his own demons and his feelings for Mina are genuine. Or are they?

I completely devoured this book. The pacing is great. I love these characters! They have become family. So much happens in this book. From secrets being revealed to a possible war. I was here for all of it! Did I mention the feels that will have you in your feels? I’m pretty sure I was ugly crying for the last part of the book. That is the power of Miss Joya’s word play.

If you haven’t read this series, what are you waiting for? It’s got witches, action, and sexy men. Skip adding these to your TBR and just dive right in. You’re welcome! I give this 5 stars.

Tides of Time (The Legacy Book 1)

~Synopsis~

She had a very good reason for breaking the first rule of magic … and the second one …

Cami Donovan has secrets. Big ones that no one can ever know.

All she can do now is try to forget the past and focus on the future. But as it turns out, her future—her family’s future—might not be shiny and bright unless she can help her sister resolve the cold case murder that’s been plaguing her psychic visions.

Falling for the sexy history expert who holds the keys to it all? That was never part of the plan.

The last thing on Sam Corraza’s mind is romance. Emotional entanglements bring nothing but pain. His past certainly taught him that. But when he’s presented with an old Hollywood mystery to solve, he can’t stay away—from the case, or the enchanting witch who brought it to him.

As they unravel the evidence—and their feelings for each other—it becomes clear that the past is coming back to haunt them in a big way.

With danger closing in, can Cami and Sam overcome all that stands between them—or is history destined to repeat itself?

Rein in her own witchy powers? Easy.

Join a clandestine FBI task force to solve a cold case murder? She’s got it covered.

But ignoring the intense sexual chemistry she has with the cocky jerk who heads her security detail? Well, that’s another story.

The last thing Mark Cavan wants on his team is a supernatural Lawyer Barbie who traipses through crime scenes in designer clothes and stilettos. But he needs a magical asset to solve the case, and Delia is the perfect witch for the job.

He’ll just have to somehow ignore his growing attraction to the infuriating woman. Seems doable…right?

It’s not long before Mark learns there’s more to Delia than meets the eye—and Delia realizes that falling for Mark would be the easiest—and most complicated—thing she’s ever done.

But they’ll need to put their feelings on the back burner if they want to catch the murderer…before they become the next victims.

Heart and Seek (The Legacy Book 4) by Luna Joya – My Review

51SA-mV6fnL

Title: Heart and Seek (The Legacy Book 4)

Author: Luna Joya

Release Date: March 23rd 2021

Genre: Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Romance

Is their chance encounter a witchy second shot at love? Or just another score?

Ruby Donovan is a lot of things—paramedic, single mom, Legacy witch. The one title she never wanted? Senate heir. But that’s exactly what she’ll become unless she can find a loophole fast. It’s just her luck that the man who steps in to help her is the one who crushed her heart so many years ago. There’s no way she’ll give him a second chance to do that.

Treasure hunter Diego Benitas has no interest in witch politics. But he does have a significant interest in Ruby. He always has. Keeping her safe and helping her find what she’s looking for shouldn’t be too hard. Convincing her to let him into her heart again? That might be the toughest assignment he’s ever faced.

It’s not long before Ruby and Diego realize how much danger their search has stirred up—and just how much they need each other. With enemies closing in from all sides, can they survive long enough to find their way to happily ever after? Or will the odds keep them apart forever?

If you love Michelle M. Pillow, Abigail Owen, K.F. Breene, or K.M. Shea, check out this series that readers have described as a steamy Charmed meets Lucifier with witch sisters solving murder mysteries and finding true love.

5-gold-stars

Slow burn. Sacrifice. True love.

Ruby and Diego. These two…all the feels!

A pull and push between these two, made their passion even steamier! I love that there is history between them. It added more to their story and even more for them to lose. Everything was put on the line. One of the things I love about a Luna Joya book is that there’s a fantastic story along with those passionate moments between characters. I am fully invested in this series! These characters have become family. Secrets and lies are unraveled. Change coming and new possible future is ahead! There are some nail biting moments which had me at the edge of my seat.

It’s always hard to choose which book is my favorite when it comes to this series. I love all of them but this book just got me right there….you know. In the feels! A huge fan of Luna Joya;s writing as well as her storytelling. I can’t wait to see what she comes out with next! I give this 5 stars.

Interview with an Author Featuring Luna Joya

The Literary Vixen presents…

Joining us today is Luna Joya! Her latest release, Killing Song (The Legacy Book 3) released on August 18th 2020.

How long have you been writing?

I almost traditionally published a debut in my twenties, but the content was so horribly dark that I stepped away until I embraced writing romance about five years ago. Beginning each book with the certainty that there will be a happily-ever-after at the end has been freeing.

Describe a typical writing day.

I work full-time as a prosecutor so I steal a few moments whenever I can. I’ve typed dialogue on my phone while standing in line at the grocery store or walking my two-pound terror of a pup. Before the pandemic, I fiercely protected my commute time on the train as writing time.

Where do you get your inspiration for your books?

Most of my characters are incredibly loud and demand the stories be told. Sometimes, they appear fully formed—flaws and all. Also, I love history, and I’ve worked in criminal law for almost twenty years so those interests influence my writing.

Do you have a favorite character that you have written? If so, who? And what makes them so special.

I love all of my characters for their quirks and flaws—both the heroes and the villains—but I’ll admit Zimm has been my book boyfriend since the first moment I “met” him. That easy charm and those good looks mask such depth of feeling, the ghosts of his past, and the infinite ability to love with everything he has.

How do you deal with emotional impact of a book (on yourself) as you are writing the story?

Each of my characters takes a little piece of me and gives me something in return. I tell myself it’s okay to leave everything on the page. When a scene is hard or heartbreaking, I write faster and pour it all into the work because my hope is that the reader can share in that emotional journey.

Also, chocolate helps.

What book is currently on your bedside table?

My Kindle with its daunting TBR (to be read) list and The Rogue King by Abigail Owen because I’m anxiously awaiting the sequel.

When writing a series how do you keep things fresh, for both your readers and also yourself?

Having a different couple “star” in each book helps. It gives me a chance to step into other perspectives and tell the overarching story from that hero or heroine’s point of view to make each book unique for readers.

Describe yourself in 3 words.

Persistent, snarky, and loyal. (I’m basically a sarcastic Hufflepuff.)

What advice would you give to other authors?

Find your tribe. I’m an extreme introvert but community is important for so many reasons in the journey. Improving my craft is one of my favorite things, and it’s easier to do with other people who share the same goal.

What is the one thing you want people to know about you and your books?

I write to provide an escape for myself and readers. Nothing makes me happier than someone saying they want to be a part of my fictional families.

I also write my passions. While it’s magic, sex, and mystery on the page, the threads underlying each story from intimate partner violence to fertility issues are matters of the heart for me. Story is where we learn to deal with life. It might as well be in a way that entertains us.

Thank you Luna Joya for chatting with me and congrats on your latest release! I will include her information down below. Check out her newest release, Killing Song today!

~Synopsis~

One more kill and she’s free. But only if she doesn’t fall in love first.

Love destroys. Zaida has lived by that motto for centuries as a siren and the faerie queen’s most lethal assassin. So keeping things strictly professional with the sexy human she’s working with on the FBI’s paranormal task force shouldn’t be a problem. Except it is.

Former Army Ranger Zimm isn’t a big fan of love either. Losing everything and everyone will do that to a guy. Keeping his hands off the badass, sword-happy siren who’s helping him track down a murderous demon should be easy. But it isn’t.

If Zaida and Zimm have any hope of claiming their happily ever after, they’ll have to catch a killer, outwit immortal royalty, and face off against an evil magical organization. And then there’s the little matter of the last hit the queen has ordered Zaida to carry out in exchange for her freedom. The target? Zimm.

Seems like everything’s about to get supernaturally complicated.

If you like Thea Harrison, Darynda Jones, Jennifer L. Armentrout, or Christine Feehan, this steamy paranormal romance is for you. Get it now.

Fantastic world building! Strong female characters who kick butt! A sizzling page turner!

These two piqued my interest in book two and I was thrilled that this book was their story. I loved the chemistry between them and that sexy heat…oh my! Along with the action and magic, there’s a wide range of emotions being felt. It’s safe to say this is my favorite so far….until the next one!

This is a highly entertaining read! This story pulls you in fast and doesn’t let go, even after you’ve finished. I give this 5 stars.
