Joining us today is the writing duo, Haven Hadley! Their new release, Base Hit (Espen Emperors Book 2) releases on August 5th 2021.

How long have you been writing?

There are two of us who co-write under this pen name. Michelle Dare has been writing since 2014 and Rebecca Brooke has been writing since 2013.

Describe a typical writing day.

Lots of yelling at our kids. Working, writing, editing, etc. Being pulled in ten directions. Squeezing in meals when we can. You know, the usual lol.

Where do you get your inspiration for your books?

Usually from dreams. Most nights, I don’t remember them, but when I do, they are so vivid the story plays out in my head.

What do you hope your readers take away from this book?

Enjoyment. We hope they read the book, fall in love with the characters, and it leaves a smile on their faces.

How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?

Together, we’ve written six so far. For Michelle, it’s a tie between Catcher Interference and Earned Run. They are books three and four in the Espen Emperors series. She loved the emotion packed into the stories and how perfect the characters were for each other. For Rebecca, it’s definitely Catcher Interference.

If you had to describe yourself in three words, what would they be?

Ugh this is a hard one. Michelle would be creative, organized—wait maybe that should be organized chaos—that’s two words. Let’s go with organized. Forgetful would be another. She will legit forget everything if she doesn’t write it down. Rebecca would be procrastinator, disorganized—Michelle keeps her in line, and inventive.

What was the highlight of writing this book?

We had a lot of fun working together on Base Hit. Same with all the books in the series. We mesh well when we write and sometimes think we share a brain lol.

Are you working on anything at the present you would like to share with me?

We started book one in the next series. It takes place in the same world as the Emperors, but this series will focus on the city’s hockey team instead of baseball. We’re so excited about it.

What advice would you give to other authors?

Write from the heart. If you love what you write, so will your readers.

What is the one thing you want people to know about you and your books?

With every one of our books, you’ll get swoon-worthy heroes, lots of emotion, and a guaranteed HEA.
